freedom for Apostolous Mangouras. (From Galiza)

2 years ago Prestige oil ship crashed on Galizan coast making the biggest ecological disaster in European history, after Chernobill. The responsibles, the fascist spanish authorities but the only one in prison is a great greek seaman, Mangouras.
2 years after, galizan people claim for his freedom.

2 years ago a ship with oil crashed on Galizan Coast. Itś name, Prestige. The harder ecological disaster in Europe was due to the enormous stupidity of Madrid Aznarś Government (they have no coast, they doesn know a word about sea), and fascict galizan govern (the president in Galiza, nation under Spain administration, is an old Franco minister, Aznarś party founder, Manuel Fraga Iribarne).
The only one who did what he have to do was the captain of the ship, an greek 70 years old seaman, Apostolous Mangouras. He tried to go with the ship to A Crunha port. Spanish and Galizan autorithies made the ship go many miles inside the sea, against Mangouras and galizan people wish. As a result, the ship crashed making the biggest black spoill in the history. More than Exxon Valdez. More than Aegean Sea...
Galizan citizen plattform Nunca Mais (Never Again) claimed for dimision of the polithics. No one of them payed for they responsibility, but Apostolous Mangouras, who all the many galizan seamen know he was a good man and a better captain, is still in galizan prison. Why? Because politics want anybody in prison, not them. Because Apostolous Mangouras made what a captain have to do. Because he almost avoid the disaster that spanish fascist authorithies are responsibles of.
Galiza is the nation with more seamen in the entire world, even more than Greece. Many people in Galiza knows that Mangouras is a great seaman. because of this, many seamen visited to Mangouras in Teixeiro prison and made him "Seaman of the year 2002".
Now Mangouras is dying in a extermination penitentiary long far away from home. Heś too old, too sad. He deserve honours but heś in prison. Because in Galiza we know this, because we know many about sea, and nothing about torture and repression, 2 years after prestige disater, we claim for his freedom.

This is a picture claiming for Mangouras freedom taken at the second aniversary of the disaster. The guy is me, and the man towards me is my father, 40 years as captain in oil-ships, gas-ships, etc. 500.000 people was there. (Galiza has 3.000.000 people). We still want dimision of polithics. We want fascist authorities go to prison, not Mangouras. Galizan people appreciate and we are gratefull to the old greek seaman and his efforts to avoid the biggest ecological and economical disaster of our history. Mangouras is dying in a spanish prison. Spanish Authorities are killing another innocent. The last mortal victim of the Prestige.

All my deep love to Mangouras family and all the people that know him. Despite authorithies say, we, galizan people, feel Mangouras pain as our pain. We love him. You must know this.

Unfortunately many comrades in Greece cannot understand what the problem was with Prestige and they think that the Captain should be punished!

Unfortunately, ther is no much documentation about Mangouras. Most of that tried to punish him even more... But I gonna search some other information. I can say you that all galizan sea people knows that he did what he had to do, that is, going with the ship to land. Thatś the mission of a captain. Everybody in Galiza knows who are the real criminals.
Mangouras was regularly visited in jail by coleagues seamen.
Actually Mangouras is waiting for a kind of indult by Corcubion Court, for going home. We know that is no risk of fuge, as Court sais. Is not Greece an European Community country, as Spain? How could a 70 years old man dissapear? Why doesn't they going free? What Mangouras know and who can be interested in his silencement?
Heś paining and he did the right thing. He was the only one doing well at those days.
Government in Spain and in Greece can say heś a criminal. People in Galiza knows he was a good seaman and a poor worker in a ship that should have not being sailing (as the 90% of oil-ships). I will look for more information about Mangouras. Then I post that here, right? ;)
I hope he come back home soon. At the day, Galizan people loves him. Heś one of us. My father could have been him. My uncle could have been him. My neighbour could have been him.
The criminals are galizan and spanish politics, the owner of ship and the owner of oil, not Mangouras. Mangouras just made a mistake. Working for them. Thatś all.
If they, the polithics, helped to Mangouras going land, we still had live in our coast.

We want Mangouras family and friends be proud. Mangouras is respected and appretiated by Galizan people. People in Galiza last meeting sang "Mangouras, patriot of Galiza" "Let Mangouras free, let Cascos (spanish minister) to jail". That was the sense of being with these legends 2 years after prestige oil spill. "Freedom for Mangouras", in Galizan language and in Greek.
Mangouras made more against oil spill than all the spanish and galizan governors. He knows that. We know that too. Greek people have to know this too.

Today, in La voz de Galicia (Spanish journal in Galiza) they say that Mangouras will go to Greece because he had a 3 mounth indult by Court. (info just 30 minutes ago). In my opinion, he would never went back prison again.

I agree with that the indy feedback... that's great and the only way I can understand European Unification! It is so great to see that people can understand each other althought the propaganda is so strong.
It was a great pleasure for us to see that people from Galiza can think better than many Greeks. This brings people so close!
It's not the Captains not the sailors that should pay the price but the capitalists and the states!!!
