Fofana, it is not about you, it is for all. Ok, it is also about you.
You were very keen on participating in this Documenta bullshit. For sure you thought about all this before coming here, but the full festival is reeking philanthropy, cultural appropriation and colonialism. Arriving from Kassel (Germany) to Athens (Greece), invading our space with your propaganda, taking photographs of the savage environment of “the European city that resists to Europe” as in a safari, using our neighborhoods and universities in your shows… at the end, consuming our city. But after all you profit from a spectacle opposing capitalism and the state… thank you? No. You are just making the full machine stronger, closing all rebellion into the prison of the institution, in the cell of the spectacle.
You were very keen on having this ¨living art¨. By painting the sheep with your perfect natural dye, you tried to depict “the harmony between human and nature, that we are all together part of the great circle of life”. You fucked up. Actually, you choose to cooperate with the exact institution that educate the students on animal exploitation, having your exhibition just next to the slaughterhouse and their live stock units. The university in which the animals are born, live and die for the human science. And you choose to tell nothing about their confinement, neither the massive murders of the industry, plus you added the humiliation through the use of them as objects in the spectacle.
We are also very keen to understand all these facts as an invitation to collaborate in your circus, but not anymore as viewers, but as active participants. About our artwork: plastic color over smashed glass. The blue you will make the reference alone. The color, plastic as your true ethics.
Resistance can not fit inside the walls of any museum or institution.
Animals are not products! Animals are not spectacles!
